CrystalMoon issued a challenge to write a fic that involved picking from a list of items, phrases and people. This started out to be John and Crais and a drinking contest, but that's not where it ended up at all. One of the things I like about it is seeing John and Aeryn from Jool's point of view. The three elements I used are listed at the bottom of the story.

Summary: An unpleasant encounter on a commerce planet leads Aeryn to make some decisions about her future.
CrystalMoon issued a challenge to write a fic that involved John, Aeryn, another crew member, and that notebook of John's that TJohn absconded with along with Winona, the coat and the girl.... This challenge really spoke to me, and I wrote four fics for it! I really love the "book ends" on this fic, even though it means I switch from first person to third and back again... This is the direct companion piece to Hope.

Summary: Aeryn revisits the Royal Planet to see the child John didn't live to see.
I'd always wanted to do a story where, after John and Aeryn had had a long life together, Aeryn went to see the child he'd had to leave behind on the Royal Planet. The challenge was not to be too sentimental.
